Immediate Auditory and Viusal Test

IVA Plus  is an integrated 13-minute auditory and visual continuous performance test designed to assess two major factors - Response Control and Attention. The test task involves responding or inhibiting a response for a total of 500 trials. Each trial lasts only 1.5 seconds, thus the test demands constant sustained attention. IVA+Plus's approach was developed specifically to be useful in following the diagnostic criteria provided in the DSM-IV by providing data to help differentiate between the four sub-types of
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder - ADHD, Predominantly Inattentive Type
(formerly termed ADD); ADHD, Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Type; ADHD, Combined Type; and ADHD, Not Otherwise Specified (NOS).

While the IVA+Plus CPT was designed primarily to help in the diagnosis and quantification of the symptoms of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorders (ADHD) for ages 6 to adult, IVA+Plus can also be used in the evaluation of attention and self-control problems related to the effects of strokes, head injuries, sleep disorders, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, dementia, learning disabilities, and various other medical problems. In addition, IVA+Plus serves a secondary purpose in helping to objectively measure the effects and benefits of medication or therapeutic treatment. Continuous performance tests including IVA+Plus have been used extensively in clinical research to evaluate the effects of treatments and interventions intended to improve attention or reaction time.
